Vitali-D Project began as a graduate school exploration of my relationship with depression. Having been diagnosed when I was 22, I was curious how that journey could be translated into a performative experience. The exploration culminated in a devised theater piece as part of my MFA Thesis in 2015. One of my biggest discoveries during that process was that this project, like my relationship with depression, is not static. It remains in flux as time passes and as the relationship evolves.
Vitali-D Project speaks to the culmination of this work over the last 4 years. There have been 2 fully produced productions, of which you can read more about below, and several workshop productions as well. |
The ultimate goal for Vitali-D Project is to use theater and performance as an opportunity to create space for dialogue around mental illness, whether in schools, therapy centers, mental health instutitions, art organizations, or wherever else the need exists. I seek to bring this piece to people who might not otherwise be able to experience it, but who may need the artistic healing the most.
